Right now boys from Tokio Hotel. How are you?Bill: Hello (Good day) We are good. We prepare right now for the upcoming tour.
What was actually 2009 for you? What kind of year was it for you?
Bill: For us it was actually hardworking year. As a band we worked a lot and we were in studio and we recorded lots of songs and then the album was released and we played a lot live. Now we are really excited for the tour next year. It was actually one sucessfull year and we wish for the next year lots of great concerts and one nice tour and that everything goes like we planned.
Yes,of course.And what was your best moment in 2009.?
Bill: Well I belive the best moment was when our album was released because we worked really long on that album and we didn't know what will people think about it and will they be satisfied and take it good and that really was one of the most exciting moments and we will never forget it, and it all went super and we can be really happy with this year.
Yes,everything is really super but tell me, Tokio Hotel sells unbelivable good, but how do you manage to be so famous? What is that secret behind Tokio Hotel?
Tom: Hm I belive it´s our bassist
Bassist? And how that?
Tom: Well he looks unbelievably good, and he has an unbelievably nice hairstyle and he can play bass unbelievably good.
Yeah ,and the lyrics of your songs? They are about love, rage, pain, they all sound really adult, and you are so young. How do you manage to write songs like that?
Bill: Well actually it doesn't matter how old you are, we just write about life. We have as much worries as adult so. And there is no recepi for fame. You just have to work much and you need luck of course.
And honesty of course. But you also have songs on english? Does it feel different to sing songs on English than on German?
Bill: Absolutely. I think that those are two various versions. And then you have to write songs on both languages and you get two different songs, and then we couldn't decide which one will we take so we did both of them.
Yes, because of this you are very successfull in other countries and South America and everything. Tokio Hotel did such an huge evolution. But do you still remember your start: Durch-den-Monsun times?
Bill: Oh yes, a lot of things happened since then. It is really funny for us to remember those times and then you see what you all experienced in such a short time. We visited so many countries and played so many concerts. We feel good about that. We feel good about every old songs and we also play old songs on our shows. We are proud and we are really happy that we still have that possibility to lauch a new album and go on tour.
And is there any other artist that you would like to work with?
Bill: It is really hard for us to decide because we all listen to very different music so it is hard to just pick one artist. But we would really like to play with Steven Tyler or Aerosmith because that is one band that we all like and they are really cool and we could work something out with them.
And are there any plans?
Bill: No. There are no plans. That was just one idea.
And also not with one hip-hop group Tom?
Tom: Well yeah I could imagine that but it is really hard to find a matching artist with who you can write good songs and share some ideas to make one.
Yes true. Now you have a really huge number of fans. For fans this is maybe not so important but fans are all girl or most of them are girls. Do you sometimes have a problem with that?
Tom: Well we are guys so of course we don't have a problem with that. We think it's really great that many girls come at our concerts and we are happy about that.
And your grandma?Does she maybe come at some concerts?
Tom: Our grandma? She was never on one I belive. Our family always watch us on some german shows and such stuff.
So that helps you to live
Tom: Yes but that also works over the phone until we come home.
And Skype right?
Bill: Oh yes Georg with his girlfriend
Oh Georg with his girlfriend, that is so nice.
Bill: Yeah Georg is almost all the time on Skype with his girlfriend. When we all hang out he just goes on skype.
That is actually nice. So you have lots of fans but there are also people that doesn't really like you and laugh about you, and how do you react on that?
Bill: Well it is actually better that it is like that. It would be much worse if they didn't actually care. It is always good that people have some meaning about you. There are always people that think you are great and other that really hate you. It is really good to have people that actually hate you and have meaning about you than people that don't give a damn about you.
I bet they all sing your songs in secret.
Bill: (laugh) yes I can imagine that
And yes you also come in Belgium next year,on 25. february I think. What can the fans from Belgium expect?
Bill: Well one really really big show, the biggest show till now. We really have one Humanoid city that we will take with us. We will have a stage that will be like a city and we will bring it in every city with us. That will be one really big show. We constructed it in London and we are really happy that we have something new to give to our fans.
Yes nice.And now last question. Bill how long do you stand in front of mirror, how long does it take you to get ready?
Bill: Hm actually not so long. It all became routine. With shower and everything almost one hour.
Oh no hairdresser and no make-up artists?
Bill: No. I do my hair by myself.
Ok good to know. Tom you also do it by yourself?
Tom: No I don't do my hair by myself, they are braided and that does one woman.
